PROFILE

Eng. Mahmoud Mohamed Alasso is the Deputy Rector of Institutional Development at SIMAD University. He is now pursuing a Ph.D. in governance. He completed his master’s degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Malaya in 2010, and he is one of the longest-serving employees at SIMAD, He joined SIMAD University on the same date it was established on Nov 6, 1999.

He was nominated for his current position of Deputy Rector of Institutional Development in June 2019 by the University Rector with the consent of the Senate. He currently supervises and administers the heart offices of the university including the Center for Research and Development, ICT Division, Public Relations, and SIMAD iLab.

Now he is engaged in many roles including:

  • Planning and coordination of a University’s intellectual culture, including, research development, creative activity, and the attendant stewardship of resources in support of those endeavors.
  • Propose a plan for the development of collaborative partnership arrangements and to create good relations with the local community and international universities
  • Reviews and ensures that all volunteer and alumni activities of the University are in the University’s best interest and in alignment with the Long Range Plan of the institution.

He formerly served numerous positions at SIMAD University including:

    • Deputy Rector, Admin and Finance
    • Director of Center for Post Graduate Studies (CPS)
    • Directory Research
    • Head of IT Department
